Elizabeth Evans Presents Research to Black Leaders for Brain Health

First-year MS-SLP student Elizabeth Evans and CCANDL Research Assistant presented her research to Black Leaders for Brain Health on “Understanding Speech Changes in Aging and Cognitive Decline in African American Adults: Creation of New Methods Based on Community Input.” Elizabeth showed results characterizing semi-spontaneous speech-language measures and longitudinal change from 48 African American adults from the Milwaukee, WI area. The presentation led to an engaging and thoughtful discussion on how this work can move forward with community input. Community members were invited to volunteer to assist with all aspects of the science, from the creation of new methods to writing grants and scientific papers.
