On March 9th, CCANDL’s Hannah Belay, a third year undergraduate student in Communication Sciences and Disorders received a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship for the 2020-2021 school year to continue her study of Ethiopia’s national language, Amharic. The fellowship was awarded by the University of Wisconsin’s African Studies Program and the U.S Department of Education. Hannah is a heritage speaker of Amharic and is hopeful to eventually incorporate her language skills into her clinical practice of Speech Language Pathology.
